Come hear and talk about Rosendale’s possible purchase of this signature town landmark. The Rosendale Town Board will be holding a public hearing at the Rosendale Rec Center on Rt 32.
We’ll be determining whether the citizens and taxpayers of Rosendale want the town to buy Joppenbergh Mountain for passive recreation; such as hiking, snowshoeing, birding, etc. The increase in town tourism could more than pay for the reduction in taxes.
The Open Space Institute will be buying the property for $185,000, and then selling it to the town for just $85,000.
If you think this is a good idea, it is very important that you come to the meeting and express your support. It would be best to bring a written statement to present to the board; something that starts like: “I think it’s a good idea for the town of Rosendale to purchase Joppenbergh Mountain for the following reasons…”
Help our town develop the right kind of sustainable eco-tourism to grow and prosper.
