Playing music from the last half of the last century, this all-star group kicks off the year in a grand fashion. Individually, these players are in demand worldwide. They’ve each logged multiple European tours in the last year and their recordings consistently garner critical praise. On this night, they’ll be playing near home for a change, and this will be fun!
Joe Giardullo (Marbletown) is primarily known for his soprano saxophone work, having worked with jazz legends Steve Lacy, Milford Graves, Bill Dixon, Marilyn Crispell, and many more.
Frank Kimbrough (Kingston) is currently the pianist with the Grammy Award winning Maria Schneider Orchestra, touring worldwide. Frank has been the pianist of choice for many jazz luminaries like Dewey Redman and Lee Konitz.
Jay Anderson (New Paltz) is known far and wide, having been the bassist for everyone from Michael Brecker to Toots Thielemans, Carmen McRae to Michael Franks, Frank Zappa to Tom Waits, Woody Herman to Celine Dion.
Harvey Sorgen (Shokan) brings a lifetime of serious music to each performance. For 13 years, he drummed for the remarkable Hot Tuna, and has also worked for Ahmad Jamal, Bruce Hornsby, NRBQ, Jack DeJohnette, Greg Allman, Michelle Shocked, Paul Simon, Dewey Redman, Phil Lesh, and many more.
