The John Abercrombie/ Rob Scheps Quartet is a collaborative band, with four of the NY area’s finest jazz musicians and good friends.
John Abercrombie is a legend: 45 years of recordings for the ECM label, he has worked with Dave Holland, McCoy Tyner, Jack DeJohnette’s Directions, Lester Bowie, Ralph Towner, Kenny Wheeler, Richie Beirach, etc. He is a living icon.
Tenor/ soprano saxophonist Rob Scheps has performed with Gil Evans Band, Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, John Scofield, George Russell, Bob Moses, Terumasa Hino, Al Grey, Clark Terry, Sam Rivers, Julius Hemphill, Duffy Jackson, Cecil Taylor, Joey Calderazzo Quartet… He leads his own bands; Magnets! with Kim Clarke; The Rob Scheps Big Band in Portland, Oregon; and the Rob Scheps Core-tet in NYC; which has a new CD entitled Live at Smalls on the way.
Eliot Zigmund has been world famous as the drummer in the Bill Evans Trio for 4 years. Other credits include Chet Baker, Stan Getz, Lee Konitz, and many tours of Japan and Europe.
Bassist David Kingsnorth is a new voice on the scene. A strong, versatile player, he is busy freelancing in New York and New Jersey.
