$10.00 with lesson, $5.00 for just dancing
The Rosendale Cafe offers its continuing series of Latin dance events on a number of Thursday nights, each starting with an all-levels lesson from 7:30pm to 8:30pm, and dancing until 10:30pm or so.
Dance forms may include Salsa, Mambo, Merengue, Cha Cha, and Bachata.
This week’s class will be hosted by Junior Ryes of the Mas Salsa K 2 Dance Company. Junior is one of the hidden talents in the Hudson Valley.
Junior trained with La Salsa de Hoy under the instruction of Carlos Vasques and Ray Colon. He worked with Marcus Gonzales, who remains his mentor to this day. He also trained with some of the well renowned instructors in the “on two” style of salsa such as Tomas Gerrero from Santo Rico, Osmar Perrones from Vamule, Victor Karisma and Edith Williams, Eddie the Salsa Freak from Miami. With dedication and persistence in seeking perfection, Junior’s passion for dance has kept growing throughout his career.
Junior believes in learning the fundamentals and teaching his students the art of dance correctly as he did from many respected icons. He instills in his students how valuable it is to start with strong skills set and build on that to become confident, artful dancers. Junior’s students look up to him because of his style, gentle manner and discipline.
