The instructor this evening with be Julia Farr, who has been dancing salsa and other forms of Latin dance for ten years. She began her studies in Chile and Mexico (the “on 1” style) and proceeded to pursue salsa intensively when she moved back to New York City. She focused on Cuban style Rueda de Casino at You Should Be Dancing in Manhattan, and then moved on to New York Style (“on 2”) at Latin Fever in Brooklyn, where she performed on a student team.
Julia is a regular at the Rosendale Cafe’s salsa night and has been training with Maia Martinez and David Salvatierra of Dojo Dance Company to prepare for upcoming performances. In addition, Julia will be teaching salsa classes at New Hope Community in Loch Sheldrake, NY.
Julia is an enthusiastic teacher with a fun-loving approach and attention to detail and expression. Her experiences living in Latin America, as well as being a certified ESL and Spanish teacher and translator, have given her a connection to Latin music and dance that she looks forward to sharing with you!
