From the artist: “Though born on Long Island, the Hudson Valley has been my home and inspiration for over 45 years.”
“The backdrop of the historic art colony of Woodstock and the Hudson River School, was the foundation of my creative life. Though I have had several careers, I always made art. My work has been exhibited regionally and internationally, and I design for private clients and public businesses.
The abstract drawings emerge from a metaphysical place – a place which synthesizes the past, present, the seen and unseen. Color and mark-making create the mood and become an integral part of the piece. Fascinated with the natural world, I channel my surroundings and life experiences to create worlds that explode with energy and light, actions and reactions. Forms reminiscent of microscopic examinations of organic matter teem with movement and life. Oceans explode with detritus, light shimmers in mountains of color. Through the use of flat and metallic color, the artworks change with the light and angle of viewing, creating even more movement through the interaction of the viewer and the art.”
“The studio is a dream world. Once the door is closed the outside world shut out, it is an escape to a place of wonder, exploration, magic, and resolution; a place where one feels most peaceful and complete.”
