Passero (“sparrow” in Italian) is a innovative ensemble from the Hudson Valley, performing and recording modern interpretations of world music and original compositions.
Blending African, Caribbean, Latin and jazz rhythms, with melodies from many countries and traditions, Passero paints a collage of sound, combining the old and new, the ancient with the progressive, the traditional with the heretical.
Passero is Raphael Garritano on guitar, mandolin, and cuatro; Juan Sanchez on vocals and rhythm guitar; David Budd on drums; Alan Murphy on bass; and Pablo Shine on percussion. These talented musicians together represent a wealth of experience and ability.
