An opening reception from 4:00pm-6:00pm, for Vicki Chesler’s exhibit of paintings entitled “Spring in the Catskills”, displaying in the Cafe during the month of May 2016.
From the artist: Please join me for wine and snacks. I look forward to sharing my work with you. A resident of Olivebridge since 1986, most of my work is done en plein air, featuring local landscapes. Growing up with a mother who also painted outdoor landscapes in oil, I have been drawing and painting all my life. I studied art at Connecticut College, the Roslyn School of Art, C.W. Post College, and the Woodstock School of Art. My work has been shown at the Kleinert/James Arts Center in Woodstock, the James Cox Gallery in Willow, the Woodstock Artists Association, the Inn at Stone Ridge, the Reservoir Inn in West Hurley, the Rosendale Cafe, and the Dolan Center Gallery in Locust Valley, NY. As Artist-in-Residence at Ashokan Dreams Bed & Breakfast in West Shokan, my work is on display and changes seasonally. Greeting cards featuring my art are sold at Mohonk Mountain House, Catskill Art, and Under the Sun in Woods Hole MA. I served on the Board of the Byrdcliffe Guild for many years and created the Arts-in-Education Committee at the Bennett School in Boiceville, which I chaired for eight years. In 2001 I re-established the Onteora High School newspaper and oversaw that program for five years. I hope you enjoy the show!
