November 08, 2015
An opening reception from 2:00pm-4:00pm, for Robert Selkowitz’ exhibit of paintings, displaying in the Cafe during the month of November 2015.
Robert Selkowitz returns to Rosendale with this exhibition of oils and pastels. Selkowitz had resided on Main Street in Rosendale from 1984 to 1996, and was a founder of the Rosendale Main Street Association. He was an early advocate for an appreciation of Rosendale architecture and community, and his restored home was featured in Victorian Homes. While resident in Rosendale, Selkowitz created a series of paintings inspired by Victorian porches and verandas, and his work was featured in Historic Preservation and Victorian Homes. In 1996 Selkowitz moved to Ashokan, and his work focused more on plein air pastel landscapes. A book of his pastels called A Painter’s Path through the Catskill Mountains was published in 2004, with A Painter’s Path through the Adirondack Mountains following in 2012.
