An opening reception from 2:00pm-4:00pm, for artist Nita Steketee and Paul Mindell’s show of work “Abstracts and Cows”, displaying in the Cafe during the month of November 2016.

Nita Steketee was born in Utrecht, The Netherlands. As a young child, she loved anything art-related; painting, drawing, sculpting, writing, dancing, and playing the piano. She graduated cum laude with a master’s degree in Graphic Design and Fine Art from Holland’s Academy of Fine Arts in St. Joost. Nita is the owner/director of YogaYoga in Rosendale NY. Her pieces in this exhibit represent a selection of her most recent works in abstract collage. These images display both power and beauty, using multiple layers of transparent color, and a muted palette. Nita’s keen sense of design achieves a painterly and monumental feel, and are true delights!

Artist Paul Mindell writes, “I painted my first cows early in my career, while I was teaching high school art in rural Massachusetts. The interplay and patterning of black and white that I observed in the mid-1970s became an often revisited theme. I currently paint in studios in Accord and New York City, and my work reflects both the urban and rural experiences. I paint primarily in oil, and in recent years have integrated painted images with those of digital technology. My photo collage of an ageless artist studio, ‘Align Through Time: The Painted Muse,The Pixelated Views’, was exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery during 2009-2010. Since 1988 I have been Professor of Art at Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey.”
