The Reservoir and Rivers of the Hudson Valley
Lynn Margileth has exhibited her paintings, etchings and encaustics nationally and internationally since she studied painting and etching at The Pennsylvania State University. At that time, she began seeing the cows and farm landscapes of central Pennsylvania as subjects.
Lynn has won awards for both her paintings and encaustics. Many large scale paintings are in corporate collections, such as Mass General Hospital and The State Street Bank in Boston.
This new series of oil paintings celebrates the beauty of the Hudson Valley… with a few excursions to adjoining states. The focus is on the reflected, upside-down world that still waters offer when they mirror the edges of land, trees and sky. After 24 years of observing the Rondout River, which borders her home in Rosendale, Lynn explored the dual images along the rivers edge that join into an unexpected illusory whole. We wonder, what are we looking at? The natural world becomes abstract and mysterious.
“Thanks to Ned Leavitt, Phyllis Luberg, Kate McGloughlin, Staats Fasoldt, The Rosendale Cafe, and “The Sacred Circles” of friends that uplift my spirit again and again.”
There will be an opening reception from 2:00pm-4:00pm, Sunday December 3rd 2017 at the Rosendale Cafe.
