Special: Joe’s award-winning CD No Work Today will be given to each audience member.
Saxophonist Joe Giardullo brings together this all-star group for a night at home. Jay Anderson brings decades of experience with Carmen McCrae, Michael Brecker, Maria Schneider, Michael Franks and Joe Sample and more. Harvey Sorgen is known worldwide for his work with Ahmad Jamal, Anthony Braxton, Dave Douglas, Hot Tuna, Pete Levin, Bruce Hornsby and Dewey Redman, and Paul Simon.
Joining the trio will be special guest, trumpeter Brian Groder. This New Yorker has gained a lot of international praise for his award winning recording Torque, with saxophonist Sam Rivers, and he brings a beautiful, haunting sound. This will be his first visit to the Cafe.
The music this night will be warm and rich, and will have one foot inside and one foot outside the tradition: music from and inspired by Wayne Shorter to Miles, Paul Motian to Dewey Redman, Steve Lacy to Morton Feldman.
