Frank Vignola is one of the most accomplished, multi-dimensional players walking the planet today. A monster player, composer and improviser, Frank plays proficiently in every genre, from jazz to bluegrass, and works with everyone and their brother. Frank’s pedigree is a mile long, but a quick Google will illustrate why he is considered one of the best on the planet. Whether he is featured on a Donald Fagen recording, a jam with David Grisman, as the late Les Paul’s right hand man, or leading his own groups throughout the years, he has proved himself to be in the elite creating his own unique sound.
Matt Flinner has emerged as a leader of the “New Acoustic” music movement. One of the finest mandolinists in bluegrass or any genre, Flinner has forged a path as a composer with a unique and increasingly imitated voice, and as a brilliant leader and sideman (Tim O’Brien, Steve Martin, Darrell Scott, Leftover Salmon, the Modern Mandolin Quartet… to name a few). His six recordings for Compass Records showcase his abilities as an improviser and writer, and his blistering solos and memorable original tunes have established him as one of the leaders in modern acoustic string and music.
Together, Vignola and Flinner bring both fire and depth to the stage. Their explorations of jazz, bluegrass and even classical music will keep you guessing and leave you wanting more.
“They are not just string masters; they are bona fide legends. As a duo, their power and range exceed critical mass.” –Cafe Guide
