Raquy Danziger specializes in Turkish Split Hand darbuka drumming, a style that has emerged in Turkish in the last 20 years. This style, which splits the hands into two, as is played with the Indian Tabla, gives the Turkish drummers speed and dexterity like never before!
Come to this an electrifying CD release show for Raquy’s new album, Neverland. The Raquy’s Dum Rhythm Celebration ensemble performs intricate and dazzling compositions comprised of rhythms from Turkey, Egypt, Iran and India; as well as funk, samba and hip hop beats. A treat for the eyes as well as the ears, this show is carefully choreographed with many theatrical elements and some audience participation.
In addition to the drumming pieces, the show includes Raquy’s dreamy melodic work. In these songs Raquy plays the mystical 12-stringed King Kemenche Tarhu, a futuristic version of the Persian spike fiddle.
The performers are Raquy Danziger on King Kemenche, Darbuka, and Bones; Joaquin Colon on Darbuka; Michael Burdi on Oud and Darbuka; and Tom Atlast on Darbuka. The show lasts approximately 1 hour.
