Crawfish Royale is a collaboration of 4 seasoned musicians: Roy Blumenfeld (The Blues Project, Seatrain); David Bennett Cohen (Country Joe and the Fish, The Blues Project); Tim Tindall (Phoebe Snow, Staple Singers, Sam & Dave); and Doc French (French Cooking). Their music reflects New Orleans flavored Gumbo Grooves, Blues and Boogie-Woogie.
David Bennett Cohen (Piano / Vocals): David is best known for his innovative keyboard playing as an original member of the ’60s rock band, Country Joe and the Fish. Over the years he has played and/or recorded with The Blues Project, Mick Taylor, The Luther Tucker Blues Band, Elvin Bishop, Hubert Sumlin, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Buddy Miles, Huey Lewis, Michael Bloomfield, Bob Weir, Debbie Davies, and many others.
Roy Blumenfeld (Drums / Percussion / Vocals): Over the years Roy has performed and recorded with the most illustrious soul, funk, blues and rock legends: Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker, Carlos Santana, Paul Butterfield, Elvin Bishop, Nick Gravenites, Barry Goldberg, David LaFlamme (“It’s a Beautiful Day”), Barry Melton (Country Joe and the Fish), Banana (The Youngbloods), Peter Albin (Big Brother and the Holding Company) and Robert Hunter (The Grateful Dead)… to name just a few. He’s recently toured and recorded with the re-formed Electric Flag, who are themselves a who’s-who of soul-funk-rock, and is still working with a number of former musical colleagues including Blues Project buddies.
Tim Tindall (Bass): Tim’s performing and recording credits include Phoebe Snow, Levon Helm, Sam & Dave, The Staple Singers, Ben E. King, Chuck Jackson, Carla & Rufus Thomas, Gary “US” Bonds, Isaac Hayes, Chuck Berry, Joe Louis Walker, Sugar Blue, Grammy nominated artists Bill Perry and Christine Santelli… to name a few.
Dave “Doc” French (Guitar / Vocals): “Doc” is the founder and leader of New York City based French Cookin’ Blues Band, inductees in the NY Blues Hall of Fame. He has worked with the who’s-who of the New York blues scene since the mid 1970s. “Doc” has recorded three CDs with French Cookin’ Blues Band and one CD as a solo artist.
