A book release and signing event for Dennis Doherty’s new poetry collection, Black Irish. The event goes from 2:00pm-4:00pm, and will include the author reading from his various works, including the latest.

Dennis Doherty is author of three other volumes of poetry: The Bad Man (Ye Olde Fontshoppe Press, 2004), Fugitive (Codhill Press, 2007), Crush Test (Codhill Press, 2010), and a meditation on Mark Twain’s classic, Why Read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn? (New Street Communications LLC, 2013).

Mr. Doherty’s works appear throughout the literary press. He teaches creative writing and literature at SUNY New Paltz; and lives with his wife, Shari, in Rosendale, New York; hometown to their beautiful three daughters.

“Often in narrative mode and spilled in blank verse, these poems examine both personal history and shifting parameters in social codes of conduct, the tension between the public and private life. They yearn to love and celebrate human connection, but remain aware of the somewhat tenuous, even dangerous, vagaries of perception, understanding, and motive.”
