The Rosendale Cafe has been bringing notable performances to the area for 17 years.
This more humble opportunity for local performances started with a very successful run of the Community Music Night hosted by Mark Bernard.
Hosts John Wirtz and then Carla Rozman took it over under the name Singer-Songwriter Tuesdays, and the series has run on-and-off since the fall of 2007.
The showcase has been a performance opportunity for both newly-established artists, and those that were outside the musical style of the Cafe's usual weekend bookings.
The music begins at 8:00pm and runs until about 9:45pm.
Starting February 24th, 2009, Wayne Montecalvo will be hosting the night, at least for a while anyway.
Wayne is a longtime resident of Rosendale and one of the Founding Fathers of the Fighting McKenzies, (you probably don't remember them).
He likes to play the accordion and the fiddle these days... So, if you play either of those instruments, you are a shoe-in
(or is it you have a shoe in?). If not, sign up anyway and "let's see what you can show us."
Wayne Montecalvo is a visual artist who often uses sound in his artwork.
His combining of visual elements with song, background music, dialogue, costume, and performance feeds his interest in seeing the
musician as an artist creating in front of a live audience. Click here for his web site.

Sorry, we are no longer accepting new artist signups for Singer-Songwriter Tuesdays.

| Time | | Performances will be on Tuesdays from 8:00pm to 9:45pm. |
| Set Length | | There with be 15 minute per set, which includes setup time. |
| Sets per Night | | There will be up to 6 performers signed-up per night. |
| Signup | | Performers can signup online, or in-person. Online signups should arrive by 8:00pm, after which any available slots will be given to in-person signups. Note that nights are usually booked well in advance, so there is only a remote chance you will get a slot if you haven't signed-up ahead of time. |
| Mixing | | The night's MC will also be mixing the sound. Please avoid complex mixes, such as those requiring mix changes in the middle of a song. Please make sure the sound person understands your requirements. To reduce feedback and get a better sound, it is preferred that guitars have their own pickups. |
| Amplification | | All amplified instruments need to go through the house board, with modest bass amplification being the only possible exception. We'll be avoiding drum kits of more than three pieces, because of setup time and volume implications. |
| Ensemble Size | | Up to three musicians can be on stage at once. Up to three mics will be provided, and two other mic/line inputs. Stage monitoring and basic house reverb will be offered. |
| Promotion | | A space will be provided for CDs, mailing lists, and promotional items. Artists are encouraged to promote their appearance at the Cafe and bring friends, and likewise the Cafe will be doing its best to advertise Singer-Songwriter Tuesdays as a whole. |
| Repeat Performances | | Performers may not play more often than every three months. This allows other musicians their chance to get on the schedule. |
| Dinner | | Dinner will be served during performances. Expect that some people may have come solely for dinner. The kitchen is not acoustically isolated from the room. |
Musical Style & Originality | | The Cafe is an acoustic venue, owing to our tradition for offering select acoustic performers and a relaxed dining atmosphere. The exhibition of music from original, acoustic singer / songwriters is encouraged. Prerecorded loops are discouraged, and there will specifically be no prerecorded material allowed for cover tunes. |
Language and Decorum | | Please be careful about using language that some might find offensive. The Cafe is a family venue.
Also understand that although we strive to be open to artistic expression, the Cafe retains the right to refuse or halt any performer if we deem their presentation is innappropriate for our venue. We hope you'll understand, we also hope we will never need to exercise that right. |
