DESCRIPTION:An evening with Charles Lyonhart and his emotionally articulate
lyrics\, lingering melodies\, and witty commentary on what it's like to b
e a human.\n\nCharles was born in the Bronx where Poe Cottage became a shr
ine\, and its late author an inspiration. The 60s brought him in touch wi
th the truths of Lenny Bruce\, and most tellingly\, the words and music of
both the Beat Generation and the Folk Rock movement. In the course of hi
s experiments with music\, writing and counterculture living\, Lyonhart me
t icons such as William Burroughs\, Allen Ginsberg\, Bob Dylan\, and Tim H
ardin. Making his way through the 70s and 80s\, sometimes on stage\, othe
r times as a writer and music critic for publications like Rolling Stone M
agazine\, he eventually turned to his true talents in life... a visionary
songwriter and seasoned guitarist.\n\nIn the 90s Charles became a regular
at The Tinker Street Cafe in Woodstock\, The Bitter End in New York City\,
and various local music festivals. Gaining a loyal regional fan base\, t
he name Lyonhart has quickly become synonymous with emotionally charged ba
llads delivered with brooding intensity backed with exceptional melodic ar
rangements. Whether he's playing with his band or solo acoustic\, his liv
e performances effortlessly showcase the solid craftsmanship as a truly ac
complished artist with poetic blended narratives accompanied by rich acous
tic textures and distinguishing vocals.\n\nCharles will perform with his f
riends Brian Hollander on dobro and guitar\, and George Quinn on upright b
ass.\n\n'Charles Lyonhart is a truly inspiring artist. His melodies both h
 aunt and energize\; his eloquent lyrics... intense\, ironic\, sharp-arrow
true... reflect rare depths of human experience as well as a resilient and
ultimately trimphant spirit.' --Myra Friedman\, Author 'Buried Alive'\, a
uthorized Janis Joplin biography\n\n'Lyonhart sings of life and relationsh
ips\, injustice and irony\, desperation and triumph\, striving and betraya
l\, folly and achievement... having a stash of unreleased Lyonhart tunes i
s like having a private treasure.' --Irv Yarg\, The Woodstock Times\n\nCo
