NEA Jazz Master and living legend Sheila Jordan, an iconic jazz singer , celebrates her 90th birthday with a great show on Friday Nov. 23, 2018.   8-11 pm.

With 3 of her favorite close colleagues-  Cameron Brown on bass;   Rob Scheps  on tenor saxophone/flute; and Tony Jefferson – drums/ vocals.

Tenor/ soprano saxophonist Rob Scheps has performed with Gil Evans BandVanguard Jazz Orchestra, John Scofield, George Russell, Bob Moses, Terumasa Hino, Al Grey, Clark Terry, Sam Rivers, Julius Hemphill, Duffy Jackson, Cecil Taylor, Joey Calderazzo Quartet… He leads his own bands; Magnets! with Kim Clarke; The Rob Scheps Big Band in Portland, Oregon; and the Rob Scheps Core-tetin NYC; which has a new CD entitled Live at Smalls available on iTunes now.

Bassist Cameron Brown has been Sheila’s right hand man in Duo for many years, and was also part of the famed George Adams / Don Pullen Quartet. His other credits include Dannie Richmond, Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Billy Hart, Dewey Redman, Joe Lovano, Idris Muhammad, Leon Parker, Tom Harrell, Dave Ballou, Jay Clayton, and George Russell.

Drummer and vocalist Tony Jefferson is one of the most in-demand drummers in the jazz world. His credits include Kenny Drew, Jr., Lou Donaldson, Eddie Henderson, Frank Wess, Gary Smulyan, Cedar Walton, John Abercrombie, and many more. Tony is also a fine jazz singer, as you will hear when he teams up with Sheila.
