Barbara Masterson is known for her vivid portrayals of farm workers. We see them picking fruit from trees and laboring in the fields, all individual personalities with lives that extend beyond the work.
“In late May of 2015 while painting on a local farm, I began adding the migrant workers to my work. These workers are some of the “faceless” people that impact our lives. They often remain unseen and unknown despite their presence in our Valley for many months each year. Getting to know and then paint them has transformed me and my work.”
Barbara graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a Masters in Fine Art; she also studied with Franklin Alexander, Mel Stabin and Christine Debrosky.
She taught Art at The Newburgh Free Academy until her retirement in 2014. Barbara has exhibited widely has had many group and solo exhibits.
“I have been painting my entire life..”
